This position is responsible for operating bag-making machines to safely produce high-quality paper bags in accordance with job safety analyses, production schedules, set-up instructions, operating procedures, and quality specifications.

We currently have open positions on the 2:00 pm—10:30 pm and 10:00 pm—6:30 am shifts, Monday - Friday schedule.

Job Overview:

Under the direction of the Production Supervisor and designated Leads, this position operates a machine that takes in paper, folds it, and glues it to produce bags of various sizes, shapes, and grades. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain machinery in accordance with safety protocols
• Monitor machines during operation to ensure optimal performance
• Perform quality checks on products to maintain high standards
• Troubleshoot issues with machinery and perform basic maintenance tasks
• Follow production schedules and prioritize workload effectively
• Inspect and pack products per customer specifications using safe work practices
• Check all safety guards are in place and properly working at their station
• Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition
• Complete assigned duties in compliance with company policies & procedures
• Performs quality checks and completes related documentation
• Maintains a clean and safe work area
• Comply with established plant rules and procedures that promote compliance with customer service-related activities
• Following run-order specifications for each product
• Following pre-requisite programs in compliance with SQF Code Manufacture of Food Packaging and food safety requirements
• Following all Good Manufacturing Practices in compliance with all Food Safety Requirements
• Actively engage in value-added activities that enhance our products and processes
• Understand and follow all JSA’s and safety procedures/policies
• Assist other team members as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned or needed

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• One year of experience in a manufacturing or mechanical position
• Eligible to work in the United States
• Successful completion of pre-employment background and drug screen
• Work overtime as needed
• Satisfactorily completes training courses as determined by management
• Ability to perform the job’s essential functions with or without accommodation
• The commitment to stay safe and to continue to learn and develop
• Satisfactorily completes mandatory training courses as determined by management

Job Type: Full-time

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

Environmental Job Conditions

• Most of the time is spent frequently remaining in a stationary position on hard surfaces. There may be a need to occasionally position oneself to examine or scan merchandise, including bending, handling, pulling, reaching, and/or stooping.
• Occasionally requires lifting objects up to 30 pounds. May require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects more than 30 pounds with assistance.
• Located in a comfortable indoor area with infrequent exposure to temperature extremes and loud noises. There may be occasional contact with cleaning agents.

In accordance with the Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. At BJ’s Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is starting from $17.00.
