Program: Roger Sherman House

Location: New Haven

Salary: $50,000 per year

Schedule: Full time, 40 hours, 2nd shift (2 PM to 10 PM), Monday to Friday

Program Summary:

The Roger Sherman House is a residential work release program that provides structure, supervision and case management services to adult males who are transitioning to the community after a period of incarceration.

Position Summary:

The Assistant Program Manager is responsible for supporting the Program Manager in managing and supervising the day to day operations of the program including staff scheduling and supervision, training and quality assurance. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a residential setting and have strong communication communication skills, demonstrate an attention to detail, as well as have an understanding of recovery oriented and trauma informed care/programming. This position shares on-call responsibilities.

Working within Adult Services, the Assistant Program Manager 2program works with Community Justice program staff to help to rehabilitate, educate, and successfully guide clients from incarceration back into the community.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years related experience
  • Associate's Degree with 4 years related experience
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required for this position

Orientation:

If selected for employment with The Connection, newly hired employees are required to attend a mandatory two (2) day New Hire Orientation held in our Roscommon office in Middletown.

Case Manager 2 - Sierra Mental Health/The Connection Inc.-New Haven

 

Full job description

Position: Case Manager 2

Program: Sierra Pre Trial Mental Health

Location: New Haven

Salary: $20.00/hour

Schedule: Full time; 40 hours; 1st and 2nd shifts; Saturday-Wednesday

Program Summary:

During their 3-6 months length of stay in this congregate care setting, pre-trial adult males with a primary mental health diagnosis are provided with case management, supervision, and psycho-educational and skill-building services to support them in re-entering the community after a period of incarceration. The goal is to reduce recidivism through establishing positive behavioral change and pro-social community connectivity.

Position Summary:

The Case Manager 2 is responsible for providing case management services, including but not limited to: intake assessment, risk/needs assessment, psycho-social education, development and implementation of individual service plans, discharge planning, and liaison with treatment providers and community resources. The Case Manager 2 monitors client compliance with placement conditions and stipulations. The Case Manager 2 is responsible for carrying a caseload, implementing and facilitating resident activities/interventions, and providing program shift coverage.

Working within Adult Services, the Case Manager 2 works on the Residential Behavioral Health Treatment care team to support clients’ recovery from mental illness, substance use, and homelessness.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 3 years related experience in the direct service and case management field
  • The ideal candidate will have experience working with the SPMI population in a residential setting and with individuals who are re-entering the community after a period of incarceration.
  • Valid Connecticut Driver’s License
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the installation, repair, and renovation of dormitory interiors, including walls, doors, windows, flooring, cabinetry, and furniture.
  • Help prepare and clean work areas, including removing old materials, debris, and unnecessary equipment to maintain a safe and organized environment.
  • Measure, cut, and shape wood, drywall, and other materials under the guidance of a lead carpenter.
  • Assemble and install furniture, fixtures, and hardware in dorm rooms and common areas, ensuring everything is secure and functional.
  • Operate and maintain basic carpentry tools and equipment, ensuring they are kept in good working order.
  • Assist in the layout and installation of flooring, drywall, and other key materials.
  • Support loading and unloading of construction materials from delivery trucks.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, strictly following safety protocols at all times.
  • Collaborate with the construction team to meet project timelines and ensure work is completed to the highest standards.
  • Take on other tasks as directed by the Lead Carpenter or Project Manager to support the team’s goals.

Requirements:

  • Basic understanding of carpentry tools and construction equipment is a plus.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects and perform various physical tasks.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a strong focus on safety.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members.

Pay Range: $22 - $26 per hour
