Full Job Description:
- Purpose:
The purpose of this position is to assist the Cheese Supervisor with the maintenance of a successful Cheese Department. This includes, but is not limited to, customer service, production, organization, rotation, and cleanliness.
- Work Environment:
This position will perform functions in retail, warehouse, and kitchen environments.
- Requirements:
- Ability to lift 80 pounds safely.
- Familiarity with natural foods and alternative diets.
- Good communication, teamwork, and listening skills.
- Demonstrated ability to follow through on commitments.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Attention to detail and good organizational abilities.
- Ability to handle multiple demands and work under pressure.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to be flexible and to adapt to changing conditions quickly.
- Willingness to be open to learn and take on new responsibilities.
- Excellent attendance.
- Demonstrated ability to follow through on commitments.
- Retail food service experience preferred along with knife skills.
- Specialty Cheese knowledge is a plus but not a requirement.
- Responsibilities:
- Customer Service
- Ensure efficient, informative, and friendly service according to established customer service vision and standards.
- Be familiar with company policies and products in order to answer customer questions. Refer unresolved questions or problems to Cheese Supervisor.
- Take ownership of a problem and seek out proper solutions.
- Anticipate customer concerns and address the issue before it happens.
- Safety
- Ensure that department shelves, displays, aisles and storage areas are in clean, orderly condition, meeting health department standards.
- Follow all safety practices and procedures; encourage others to practice safe behaviors as well.
- Make food quality and sanitation a priority.
- Store Operations
- Cut, wrap, label and rotate various specialty cheeses and accoutrements.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout production.
- Maintain a constant attention to detail.
- Understand ordering procedures, inventory, and cost control.
