Full Job Description: (Downtown New Haven!!)
Purpose: The Stock + Customer Service Clerk oversees the operations of various sections of Elm City Market.
Work Environment: This position will perform functions in retail, warehouse, and office environments. There will be extensive time spent on the floor.
Requirements:
- At least 2 years’ experience in a retail, preferable in a Supermarket environment.
- Familiarity with natural foods and alternative diets.
- An ability to read, interpret, and understand financial statements.
- Experience executing goals, effectively creating change, and increasing efficiency.
- The ability to exercise considerable discretion and judgment consistent with the essential functions of the job.
- Ability to lift 30 pounds safely.
Responsibilities:
- Customer Service
- Role model excellent customer service for staff and provide excellent internal service to staff and peers.
- Actively address performance and personnel issues in a timely manner.
- Ensure adherence to company policies.
- Properly document personnel matters.
- Make sure all product dates are thoroughly checked and all using the FIFO method when stocking shelves.
Safety:
- Ensure that department shelves, displays, and storage areas are in clean, orderly condition, meeting health department standards.
- Ensure compliance with safety practices and procedures, both throughout the store and within the department.
- Develop a culture of safety among employees.
