Full Job Description:

Title: Cleaning Associate

Department: Maintenance

Supervisor(s): Director of Operations

Employment status: Non-exempt; full-time; 38.5 hours/week

Work schedule:

Mon.–Thurs.8:30am-5:30pm, Fri.8:30am-1PM

Job Purpose & Summary

The purpose of the Cleaning Associate is to keep buildings in clean and orderly condition by performing both routine and as-needed maintenance activities and notifying appropriate management of all status updates.

Tasks, Duties, & Responsibilities

  • Services, cleans, and supplies restrooms, break room, and common areas daily.
  • Gathers and empties trash and recycling from all offices and spaces and brings outside to appropriate containers daily.
  • Cleans, dusts, and vacuums individual offices weekly.
  • Cleans building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and vacuuming; polishes wood and laminate floors; steam cleans or shampoos carpets.
  • Dusts and sanitizes furniture, walls, machines, glass/windows, and equipment.
  • Requisitions supplies or equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
  • Notifies managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
  • Checking electrical appliances to ensure that hazards are not created.
  • Schedules special refuse disposals (e.g., bulk item pickup).
  • Assists the department in all other tasks as needed, including keeping the workspace clean; tidies and sets up, arranges, or removes decorations for special events such as banquets or meetings.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Clerical: Knowledge of clerical procedures and systems regarding operations of the position’s department.
  • Communication: Native/bilingual or professional fluency in English required, regarding both expression and comprehension in reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Problem Sensitivity & Solving: Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong; furthermore, ability to follow procedure to solve problems.
  • Social Skills: Ability to work with others one-on-one and in teams of various sizes; service orientation, social perceptiveness.
  • Technology: Ability to use MS Office as needed for recordkeeping.
  • Time Management & Versatility: Managing one's own time and adhering to deadlines within the department; flexibility and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Professional Experience: 1+ years of experience in maintenance required.

  • Environmental Factors: Indoors, temperature-controlled, follows all safety regulations
  • Tools & Technology: Step stool, ladder
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and legs. Ability to exert force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects. Ability to quickly and precisely move hands and arms to grasp and manipulate objects.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $14.00 per hour
