Residential Counselor

Qualifications
This is a residential setting for a male only candidate. Individual must have: demonstrated the ability to manage, motivate, direct and counsel consumers; possessed of time management and organizational skills; a complete knowledge base of all aspects of the delivery of residential services for the homeless population; competent in recognizing and dealing appropriately with mental health, substance abuse, and dual diagnosis issues; knowledgeable of the area network providers; a high school graduate, college graduate preferred; valid Drivers’ license with good driving record; computer literate; culturally competent; must possess the capacity to work within a team and foster teamwork; must have a demonstrated understanding of crisis intervention skills, confidentiality, boundaries, and universal precautions; able to foster a Harm Reduction philosophy within the work environment; strong empathic skills. Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred. Reliability and punctuality are essential.

Responsibilities
Supervise up to 17 male clients to ensure compliance with all house rules on an on-call basis. Counsel clients to assist them with following their recovery service plans. Assist in ensuring security of the shelter building. Attend/share all required Columbus House and network meetings; complete all required reports; oversee intake, departures, and daily roster and programs; work in concert with Columbus House Managers and Directors; adhere closely to scheduled shift start times and remain on duty until replacement has arrived.

Pay Scale: $13.66/hr. no benefits
Number of Positions: 2
Schedule: No regular schedule, on-call
