Job Description – Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) and Peer Support Group Facilitator
Unit: Inpatient and Outpatient Units of the Connecticut Mental Health Center (CMHC)
Description of Unit: The Inpatient and Outpatient Units are components of the Clinical Services Department of CMHC. The Inpatient Unit runs 7 days a week while the Outpatient Unit runs Monday through Fridays from 9am to 5pm.

Supervision/
Reporting to: Ted Pappas, MA, Director of Consumer and Family Initiatives and Education
Hours/Days: Shift schedule to be arranged with the Director of Consumer and Family Initiatives. Hours from 3-8 weekly, depending on schedule.
Objective: As consumers in recovery, Peers are an invaluable asset in the mission to provide culturally competent and recovery-oriented care. It is expected that WRAP Facilitators will work cohesively to facilitate WRAP and Peer Support groups in a way that both teaches its components, and provides an atmosphere for collective participation and Peer support.
Qualifications:
- To hold certification as a Recovery Support Specialist from Recovery University.
- To hold certification as a WRAP facilitator.
- To express interest in helping people receiving services at CMHC to create a self help tool to further their recovery.
- An ability to establish supportive and respectful rapport with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, including but not limited to people receiving services, clinical staff, administrative staff and colleagues.
- An ability to work supportively and effectively with. a co-leader
- The initiative to proceed without direct supervision and utilize training effectively
- To possess maturity and dependability
- The ability to follow organizational guidelines, policies, and procedures developed by both the employer and place of employment
- The ability to uphold complete consumer confidentiality
- The ability to provide empathic communication and maintain appropriate boundaries
- The ability to speak in public and share their personal experiences.
Responsibilities:
1. To report to all meetings and groups in a timely manner and attend all meetings and required trainings
2. To address and report all employment-related concerns to the Director of Consumer and Family Initiatives.
3. To prepare for and facilitate WRAP and peer support groups for people receiving services at CMHC on both the inpatient and outpatient units of the Center.
4. To be able to adopt WRAP and Peer Support groups for different settings at CMHC.
5. To immediately report any information to CMHC clinical staff that may be critical to the care of the person receiving services at CMHC
6. Initiative and ability to proceed without direct supervision and utilize training effectively
7. To demonstrate maturity and dependability in all job functions
8. To keep track of WRAP and Peer Support attendees and facilitate data collection regarding WRAP and Peer Support groups at CMHC
9. To attend supervision regularly and utilize supervision effectively as a tool to support professional development and improve job performance.
10. To establish supportive and respectful rapport with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, including but not limited to clientele, clinical staff, Administrative Staff.
11. To follow organizational guidelines, policies, and procedures as required
12. To uphold complete consumer confidentiality
13. To provide empathic communication and maintain appropriate boundaries
14. Other duties as assigned
Trainings: Full participation in CMHC orientation which includes topics such as Infection Control and Environmental Care; and attendance and active participation in all supervision meetings and trainings.
Comments: Complete confidentiality must be maintained at all times as outlined in the training sessions. Clinical advice must never be administered and WRAP Facilitators must never perform any function for which they have not been trained and/or licensed. Bilingual is not necessary but a plus.
