We offer several free workshops to explore careers in growing fields, network with other job seekers, and discover all that the One Stop system has to offer. Please register in advance by calling or stopping by the location listed after the schedule. Click on each blue title for a description.

We offer several free workshops to explore careers in growing fields, network with other job seekers, and discover all that the One Stop system has to offer. Check the bi-monthly schedule for dates and locations.

One Stop Services Orientation
Provides an overview and entry into core One Stop services including job development assistance and/or individual training access. This workshop is for dislocated workers, low-income adults or those simply unemployed or underemployed. This is the recommended first stop for those new to CTWorks/American Job Center network.
21st Century Manufacturing: The Connecticut Advanced Manufacturing Initiative (CAMI)
Has expanded and improved training facilities throughout Connecticut’s community colleges. This workshop focuses on the Manufacturing Machine Technology Program at Middlesex Community College for those entering the workforce or looking to move up in it.
Leveraging Your Technical Skills in: IT, Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering
Provides information about employment trends in Information Technology (IT), Manufacturing, Engineering and “Green Collar” sectors. Also discusses the paid, on-the-job-training (OJT) programs available through Workforce Alliance and CTWorks. Please bring your resume.
Is a Career in Health Care & Life Sciences Right for You?
The Connecticut Health & Life Science Career Initiative has expanded credit certificate and degree programs at Gateway Community College and Middlesex Community College in Middletown. This information session will cover requirements, using Pell Grant, TAA or GI Bill benefits, and credit for prior learning. Classes start in Spring and Fall 2016.

Fundamentals of Resume Writing
If you are putting together your first resume this workshop will provide you with the valuable information you need to create a professional resume
Interview Strategies and Techniques
Learn interview preparation and techniques and discover the best way to respond to questions from an interviewer, how to negotiate a "win-win" package, and learn what to say and when and how to say it.
Networking Club
Members of this group will learn how to use networking as part of their job search, and other important career tips to apply to job search now.
Over 40 & Looking for Work
Designed to address the specific needs and challenges of job seekers over the age of 40, this workshop will provide attendees with strategies to overcome age bias and successful techniques to land and keep their next job.
Successful Job Search Strategies
Attendees will learn useful job search strategies and gain pointers on telephone skills, networking, the "hidden" job market and interviewing.

Veteran's Workshop
Connecticut Department of Labor's Office for Veterans' Workforce Development will conduct this workshop to provide former military personnel with peer-driven support and to increase their networking opportunities. Discussion topics include career fairs, federal job information, and online applications.
