General Description:
Working with the staff of the Sunrise Café, a free breakfast program for those in need in New Haven, insure safety for guests and staff. This includes politely and diplomatically directing clients to designated smoking areas and to prevent loitering on the sidewalks near or around the building. In addition it includes making sure the surrounding area near the Café is free from any debris on ground and the kitchen and dining area are clean at the end of the day.
Main Activities and Tasks:
This position also includes monitoring the dining hall and the bathroom areas of the church for any illegal or problematic activities. Further tasks include breaking down café tables and storing them on site and removing chairs and stacking them each day. Dispose of garbage and recycling. Additional tasks will be assigned as needed.
Additional Activities:
Participates in required safety, health and occupational trainings as defined by the agency and/or the program. Maintains strong communication with team. Participates in the following group meetings: informal meetings throughout the day at Sunrise, individual supervision with program director once a week and others as assigned.
Must maintain professional boundaries and ethics.
Preferred levels of education and experience: High School or GED preferred.
Work experience in maintenance, security or Food services preferred.

Purpose
To assist with the cleaning and maintenance of the Columbus House facilities as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities
Clean and maintain grounds. Clean and maintain all interior spaces including kitchens, bathrooms, offices, dining areas, residential spaces and common areas. Remove trash, transport materials and supplies as directed in facilities of Columbus House as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
Valid Driver's License and a good driving record. Ability to lift and carry up to 35 lbs. Able to engage in manual labor in varied indoor and outdoor assignments.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Must possess general physical ability commensurate with the duties and responsibilities of the position including the ability to lift up to 35 pounds. Must be punctual, reliable, trustworthy, hardworking and respectful to staff and clients. Must be able to follow directions and accept supervision.

Salary: $12.00 per hour plus excellent benefits

Duties:
