Qualifications:

We are looking for a skilled and responsible individual who is a self-starter and problem solver. This individual must have a great eye for detail and a commitment to quality. The position requires the ability to stand for long periods of time and lift heavy packages. (up to 70 lbs) Previous experience in a sorting or warehouse environment preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Sort and categorize incoming packages / inventory based on customers and priority.
  • Ensure the accuracy of sorting to minimize misdelivery and delays.
  • Organize and prioritize work orders and maintain workflow.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Assist in inventory management.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet daily sorting goals and deadlines.
  • May require extended hours during peak seasons

Fish Mart is hiring in our Pet Segment for a Night Aquatics Order Picker!

Do you love pets and love working in a fast-paced environment? Our growing company has opportunities to work with a variety of fish and pets and the ideal candidate will be responsible for fulfilling all sales orders. Our team works together to supply our customers with the nation’s top pets. If you are dependable, responsible, and committed to safety, this may be the job for you! Fill customer orders by properly handling the picking/ packing of fish using pick sheets generated by the sales office or order pick sheets written by walk-in customers.

Location: Fish Mart is in the Heart of West Haven, CT

Shift Details: Hours and Days may vary.
  • 6 PM-6 AM Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday

  • 5-11 PM Friday (Variable)

MEASURES OF SUCCESS:
  • Match item numbers from picking tickets and picking labels to correct corresponding item numbers.
  • Handle fish properly, training will be provided.
  • Load trucks (as assigned)
  • Unload trucks (as assigned)
  • Pick Orders (as assigned)
  • Keeps the work area clean and orderly.
  • Understand and support the goals and objectives of the department.
  • Work assigned shift.
  • Communicate between lines and assist others when necessary to complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
  • Physically count livestock from warehouse/Annex and bring it to its designated area for packing.
  • Bag any fish and oxygenate them if they could die from oxygen deprivation while waiting to be packed.
  • Bag any fish that may jump out of buckets while waiting to be packed.
  • Properly handle different types of livestock in a professional, safe and approved method.
  • Properly identify different species (including sex) or types of livestock.
  • Make necessary changes to pick sheets.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and appearance while on the job.
  • Follow all policies and procedures as outlined in each type of animals’ care manual.
  • Assist in the training of new department employees on the equipment, procedures, and practices of the department, as needed.
  • Perform other assignments/special projects from time to time as directed by management.

  • Knowledge of the proper way of lifting articles so as to avoid injury. Knowledge of how to properly use a hand truck.
  • Physically capable of reaching all livestock areas in the warehouse/Annex.
  • Lifting to a maximum of 50 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Ability to walk and stand for up to 10 hours plus per shift.
  • The ability to step up onto a step about 18 inches in height.
  • Carry multiple buckets weighing 6lbs each.
  • Able to lift boxes up to 50lbs.

Job Title: Warehouse Associate

Reports To: Manager of Operations

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary: Performs all duties related to incoming and outgoing merchandise and ensures the efficient operation of the warehouse by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Arranges shipping appointments with trucking companies and completes appropriate paperwork. *

2. Determines most effective shipping method and prepares shipping documents. *

3. Loads and unloads delivery vehicles using required equipment and stocks inventory in the appropriate areas throughout the warehouse. *

4. Verifies the accuracy of packing slips and quantities of delivered merchandise by visually inspecting the merchandise. *

5. Promptly communicates delivery problems and discrepancies to customer service. *

6. Stocks merchandise by lifting, carrying and using appropriate equipment. *

7. Records all merchandise discrepancies or damages on appropriate paperwork. *

8. Organizes and prepares merchandise for shipment. *

9. Uses sales orders to prepare customer orders and ensures that appropriate paperwork is completed and included with shipment. *

10. Maintains a neat and orderly workplace by organizing pallets, sweeping, and removing/disposing of debris. *

11. Follows established safety procedures and immediately reports dangerous conditions to management. *

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
