Job Title: Powder Coating Technician / Laborer
Location: Wallingford, CT
Position Type: Full-Time (Consistent Overtime: 45+ hours/week)
Salary Range: $18.00 – $25.00 per hour (Based on experience)

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Powder Coating Technician / Laborer to join our manufacturing team. This role involves operating powder coating equipment, preparing surfaces, and ensuring high-quality finishes on a variety of metal products. The ideal candidate will be committed to safety, precision, and efficiency, contributing to our production goals and maintaining strict quality standards. Responsibilities

• Prepare metal surfaces through cleaning, sanding, and surface preparation techniques suitable for powder coating or industrial painting.
• Operate powder coating equipment, spray guns, airless paint sprayers, and conventional spray systems to apply coatings evenly and accurately.
• Handle materials safely using proper materials handling procedures and adhere to all safety protocols including PPE use such as respirators, gloves, and protective clothing.
• Maintain and troubleshoot coating equipment, including spray guns, machining tools, and finishing machinery.
• Conduct visual color comparisons and inspect finished products to ensure adherence to quality standards in production.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments for fabrication, surface preparation, or minor repairs.
• Support warehouse activities such as materials handling with forklifts or cranes when necessary.
• Follow manufacturing processes aligned with lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflow efficiency.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment and ensure a clean work environment in compliance with safety regulations.
• Assist in construction painting surface preparation or auto body repair tasks as needed.

Experience

• Prior experience in industrial painting, powder coating, or manufacturing environments is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with quality standards in production and the interpretation of production documents.
• Mechanical knowledge related to machining, fabrication, or auto painting is advantageous.
• Experience operating forklifts and cranes is preferred for materials handling tasks.
• Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to coating thickness or material quantities.
• Knowledge of safety protocols including respiratory protection and PPE adherence in industrial settings.
• Warehouse experience or background in construction painting surface preparation is a plus.
• Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, spray guns, and coating application equipment efficiently.
• Understanding of lean manufacturing practices to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
