Reports To: Vice President, Southern Region
Travel: Yes, travel may be required for this position.
Supervisory Responsibility: No
Compensation: Negotiable, based on skills and experience. Pay range starts at $25/hr.

Company Profile:
ECC Corporation provides railroad support services ranging from track protection, inspections, and construction services specifically for operating railroads and their customers. ECC has provided flagging services in the New England area for over 6 years and has recently expanded our service area to include the South and Southwest.

Job Description:
ECC Corporation is seeking to hire a Roadway Worker In Charge (RWIC) to support railroad operations. We plan to fill multiple positions in multiple locations. The successful candidate(s) will have a working knowledge of railroad operations and engineering. The projects will range from third party projects (outside owners) to internal engineering related projects.

Required Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent

Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of experience with a Class 1 Railroad, Regional Short Line, Transit System, State DOT Rail Division, Railroad Supplier, Railroad Contractor, and/or Railroad Consultant; preferably within the Maintenance of Way (MOW) Department.

Job Requirements:

  • Proficient computer skills in basic email, phone, and text message applications.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong technical knowledge in Railroad Engineering, Railroad Design, Railroad Construction, and Safety.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail; well organized.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Ability to travel for extended periods of time; sometimes month(s) at a time.
  • Ability to successfully complete Federal, Client, and/or Company Specific Training.

Job Duties:

  • Report to various work assignments and provide the RWIC function.
  • Provide clear and concise communication with Dispatchers, Train Crews, other Railroad Personnel, and/or Contractor personnel.
  • Perform EIC duties to ensure general safety and protection of all personnel and property.
  • Enforce all Railroad, State, and Federal Policies.
  • Report all accidents and safety violations.
  • Enforce Contractor training requirements.
  • Submit daily field reports detailing Contractor and/or Railroad activities.

Work Environment:
This job operates in a field environment.

Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Must be able to hear, speak, read, and write clearly in English.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (removal and set up of portable derails).
