Example of Duties: Assists in preparation, handling, serving, and distribution of food; cleans food service areas
including preparation, storage, delivery and recycling areas; reads menu to determine type and quantity of food for
patients and/or clients; prepares simple foods such as beverages, pureed food, salads, toast, etc.; prepares juices, coffee,
etc.; replenishes serving trays and condiments; sets counters with utensils; stocks shelves with supplies; may operate
cash register, access control equipment, dish room equipment and other related food preparation equipment; performs
related duties as required.
General Experience: Any experience and training which provide the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above.
Note: Current DCF employees having permanent status in this classification must submit an NP-2 Lateral Transfer
Request Form. State employees currently holding the above title or those who have previously attained permanent status
may apply for lateral transfer.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Some interpersonal skills; some oral and written communication skills; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability
to learn policies and procedures; ability to operate, care for and perform minor maintenance on tools and equipment used
in daily work; some ability in simple record keeping.
Physical Requirement: Employees appointed to positions in this class must have adequate physical strength, stamina,
physical agility, visual and auditory acuity and must maintain such physical fitness as to be able to perform the duties of
the class. A physical examination may be required.
Working Conditions: Incumbents in this class may be required to lift moderate to heavy weights and may be exposed to
extreme weather conditions and risk of injury from equipment and assaultive and/or abusive patients and/or clients.

employment rules, if applicable.
