Disability Resource Network is a 501(c)(3) non profit that works with individuals with developmental disabilities and alternative education students.
We are seeking to hire a paraprofessional to work with our alternative education students with the primary job responsibility of driving the students in the community.
The students are 14 to 22 years old with a special education IEP plan. The paraprofessional will primarily be a driver, picking up students from home to program in the morning and transporting them home in the afternoon using company vehicles and then driving them in the community during program hours. At the school program the paraprofessional will work under the instruction of the special education teacher. The students have developmental/learning/emotional disabilities and may have outbursts. Many of these students have also had involvement in the juvenile justice system. The paraprofessional will encourage, motivate, and cue the student during activities. The paraprofessional will implement safety protocols per PMT protocols. All transportation will take place in a company vehicle.
To be eligible for the position:
-Ability to pass a criminal and motor vehicle background check
- Ability to pass the CT Abuse & Neglect registry check
-18 years or older
-Valid driver's license
-Minimum of GED/High School diploma
-Eligible to work in the US
-Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English

The position is week Monday to Friday from 8:00AM to 3:00PM for a total of 35 hours per week.
