Housekeeping (Pt Position) - Ronald McDonald House (New Haven)

Job Description:

Title: Housekeeper : $15 an hour - Part-time

Relationships - Reports to: House Manager

Summary Description:

The Housekeeper is responsible for the sanitization and cleanliness of the interior of the House. He or she communicates pertinent information to the House Manager regarding residents’ needs, maintenance issues noticed during his or her shift, and those reported by volunteers, residents, staff members, and or visitors. The position is also responsible for updating the supplies list to reflect used items and stock replacement. Frequently check storage closets, update, and report findings to the House Manager.

A. Maintenance

Maintain upkeep of daily, weekly, and monthly checklist that ensures the cleanliness of all guest rooms and common areas. Helps to maintain the inventory of cleaning supplies and communicates needs to the House Manager.

B. Pantry and Linen Closets, Laundry Rooms, and Guest Rooms

Responsible for the cleanliness and organization of the food pantry and linen closets. Sanitizes guest rooms to ensure that all necessary toiletries, linens, service materials (umbrella, iron, hair dryer, clock, waste basket, laundry basket, flash light, etc., are in place). Cleanliness of laundry rooms and coffee area.

C. Kitchen

Ensures the kitchen is presentable throughout the shift, including cleanliness of the floors, tables, stoves, ovens, refrigerators, pantries, and the various utensils.

D. RMH Grounds

Assist with cleanliness of the outdoor playground and barbeque areas, including cleaning patio furniture, barbeques, pillows, and arranging said materials appropriately with follow-up as necessary.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Self–directed and able to successfully complete projects assigned with minimum supervision

Demonstrate problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to work in a flexible, team-oriented environment

Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to people of diverse backgrounds

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, meet frequent deadlines and are self-disciplined

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT

This position has some physical demands that include, but are not limited to

Interpersonal and communication skills, bilingual a plus

Standing for extended periods of time

Climbing ladders

Frequent bending

Reaching, lifting, and/or carrying up to 55 pounds

Reliable Transportation

COVID fully vaccinated

PART-TIME SHIFTS LOOKING TO FILL

Weekday Evening Shift: 5:00pm - 8:00pm or 5:30pm - 8:30pm

Saturday or Sunday Day Shift: 8:00am -1:00pm or 9:00am - 2:00pm

Occasional request/offered additional hours to support scheduled vacations, holidays, or staff call-outs

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 per hour
