Kitchen Assistant (PT) - Woodbridge School District (Woodbridge)

 

Full Job Description:

SUMMARY:
The Woodbridge School District consists of one school: Beecher Road School, a PreK-6 elementary school employing approximately 165 staff members to serve and educate approximately 850 students. Woodbridge is one of Connecticut’s best towns, and Beecher Road School is the jewel of the town! For the 2021-22 school year, the District seeks a kitchen assistant for 20 hrs./wk.: 9:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs tasks required for the safe and proper preparation of nutritious meals and food items to students and staff, including washing and peeling vegetables
  • Operates basic kitchen equipment in a safe and sanitary manner
  • Operates cash register and point-of-sale system for purchase of meals and food items
  • Maintains kitchen work area and food preparation equipment and utensils in clean and orderly condition, including transferring supplies and equipment between storage and work areas
  • Performs kitchen requirements related to recycling of food preparation containers

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE; Required:

  • Background, interest, and/or expertise in food services
  • Ability to collaborate with supervisor and other team members
  • Ability to understand and follow procedures related to food services, health, and sanitation
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for up to six (6) hours on cement quarry tile floors
  • Full range of motion when working at a stand-height work table, dishwasher, and pot and pan sink, and when bending and reaching
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical operations, and to learn how to use a cash register

SALARY AND BENEFITS:
The position is a part-time, school-year position with the hours indicated in the "Summary" above. Salary and benefits are in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between the District and UE Local 222, CILU #80. Pay: From $15.35 per hour

Schedule: Monday to Friday
